FAQ'S
How Should I Prep For My Spray Tan?
-
Shower, exfoliate and shave 12 to 24 hours before your appointment
-
Skip lotion, oils, perfume and deodorant on tan day since they can interfere with how the tan develops
-
Remove jewelry or plan to take it off at the studio
-
Wear loose, dark fitting clothing and slides or flip flops (weather permitting, otherwise cover your feet in a loose fitting shoe)
What should I wear to my spray tan appointment?
-
Wear loose, dark, comfortable clothing, such as a dark sweatshirt, joggers, or a flowy dress.
-
Avoid tight clothing, bras with underwire and light-colored fabric
-
Wear sandals or flip-flops if you can.
What do I wear during the tan itself?
-
You choose your comfort level. Most clients wear thong panties they have and go topless.
-
I do provide disposable undergarments upon request.
-
I also provide nipple covers and a hair cover
-
You're welcome to wear your own swimsuit if you'd rather. Whatever makes you feel comfortable
Do I need to shave and exfoliate first?
-
Yes, ideally. Smooth skin takes color more evenly and exfoliating removes dead skin that would otherwise flake off with your tan.
-
Be sure to gently exfoliate after shaving (the strip on the razor can leave a film)
Do I need different clothes after I tan?
-
If you wore dark, loose fitting clothing into your appointment you are invited to put those back on
-
I do not recommend a bra of any kind after tanning if at all possible
What's the difference between a traditional tan and a rapid tan?
-
Both use the same process. The difference is how long your color takes to develop before your first rinse.
-
Traditional tan: Develops for about 8 to 12 hours before your first rinse.
-
Rapid tan: Develops faster, so you rinse after about 1 to 4 hours, then fully wash with soap and water after 8.
What shades do you offer? I don't want to be orange.
-
I often blend formulas to match your skin tone and desired color.
-
Shade options range from a golden honey, dark chocolate, and a true brown
-
We will choose your desired tone and depth together.
Does a spray tan smell?
-
The solution is odor-free and it dries quickly.
-
Adding scent drops is a fun option for tans if you want something scented.
When can I shower?
-
Follow the rinse timing for the tan we choose.
-
Rapid tan first rinse is 1-4 hours, wash with soap and water after 8 hours.
-
Traditional tan first rinse 8-12 hours.
How long does a spray tan last?
-
Most tans last 7 to 10 days, depending on your skin, how well you moisturize and how you care for your color.
How do I make my tan last longer?
-
Moisturize once or twice daily with an oil-free, fragrance-free moisturizer
-
Take shorter, lukewarm showers
-
Pat dry instead of rubbing
-
Avoid exfoliating scrubs, oils, and long soaks in pools or hot tubs
Can I work out, swim, or sweat after my tan?
-
Wait until after your soap and water shower, since sweating before then can leave streaks.
-
After that, light activity is fine, but chlorine, salt water and heavy sweating can fade your tan faster.
Will my tan rub off on my clothes or sheets?
-
Before your first rinse and soap and water shower some color can transfer. so wear dark clothing and use dark sheets that night.
-
After your first rinse and soap and water shower, a finished tan is sweat-resistant and rarely transfers.
